Module content and teaching
The aims of the module are to investigate the evolution, biological mechanisms, and cognitive processes of language and communication, as well as the relation between language and cognition more generally.
Principal learning outcomes
"At the end of the module students should be able to: explain important concepts from psycholinguistics and cognitive science; outline the key problems in explaining language and thought; describe methods of research on language and thought; critically evaluate models of language and thought. "
Timetabled teaching activities
Length of module: 12 weeks. One lecture per week; one seminar per fortnight. Attendance at lectures and seminars is compulsory.
