Summer 2012 Internship at Future Media Ltd

Future Media Ltd is looking for two bright and enthusiastic individuals to intern with us this summer.

This is a three-month internship (June-August - although if you can start earlier this would be welcomed), which will involve working on the 2012-13 edition of Future magazine, and is a great chance to observe and learn how to put a magazine together - from planning stage, production, print and the launch. The intern will be expected to provide ideas, research and work on articles to appear in this year’s magazine.

You will also be expected to come up with ideas and write stories for the Future website, while manning our Facebook and Twitter pages, updating our friends and followers on all the going-ons at Future Media HQ.

You will also be required to assist with the planning and organisation of the Future launch event, which takes place early September, including working on the guest list, liaising with invitees and approaching companies for gifts to put into goody bags.

Applicants must have:

  • Good administrative and IT skills such as knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and the Internet.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivation, resourcefulness and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable work experience for an ambitious, hardworking and organised individual, with good research and administration skills, and who responds well to deadlines. It will provide you with a candid insight into the world of publishing, journalism and some aspects of marketing and PR, and will also put you in an environment where you will meet some very interesting and inspirational people, and be provided with great networking opportunities.

This is not a 'making the tea' role, you will be in the thick of things with a real chance of gaining valuable skills, which will make a fantastic addition to any C.V.

Additional requirements:

  • Good administrative and IT skills, such as knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and the Internet.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivation, resourcefulness and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This is an unpaid role, with a commitment of at least three days a week (travel expenses will be paid).
