Development Adviser

12 month contract

This is an opportunity to join our Development team to maximise the value we receive from training opportunities both inside the company and externally. This training focuses on the development of employee’s leadership and management skills in the main. Additionally, however, areas such as project management and various technical skills workshops and events are included.

Responsibilities of the Position

You will work with a variety of colleagues from Business Partners to external suppliers in order to:

•  Contribute to staff development strategy, policy and practice across a large organisation

•  Support the business with major tenders for new suppliers

• Identify savings through relationship management with training providers

• Plan and develop training events, working consistently to agreed budgets

• Review training practices through a number of methods


Person Specification

You will need to have strengths in planning, budget-management and be comfortable in having to adapt to new situations. You will need excellent people-management skills and be able to work effectively with colleagues both internally and externally with tact and diplomacy:

• A clear ability to engage others in training and professional development

• Thorough understanding of our internal training structure and its applicability to our employees

• You should be at ease working alone and have a drive to achieve results

• An interest in keeping up to date with projects affecting OBS

• Considerable project management skills and experience
