Ethnic Minority Postgrad Network

A new Ethnic Minority Postgrad Network has been set up this week by two of your PGR Colleagues. You can either contact them directly by email, or check in on the Researcher Development Online – channel- a message from them is here:

Hi everyone,

We're a couple of PhD students planning to set up a network for ethnic minority PhD students at Warwick. We have a few ideas about how to do this, but want to add to them by talking to other people from the community and drawing on a wider variety of experiences. If you're interested in being involved, please email solly.coles@warwick.ac.uk or h.bharth@warwick.ac.uk, and we'll arrange a chat in the near future.

All the best,

Solly & Hanson

PGR Plenum - the PGR voice...

We intend to build a new PGR Plenum*, run, organised and led by yourselves. Within this structure we would like to see a better representation of the PGR voice; supporting all of you with a voice into committees; for example in my last University we managed to raise and help address Graduate Teaching issues, supervision numbers and funding for Research Development; but obviously it would be representing your PGR needs now and moving forward.

I think that it would be useful also to develop interest groups, that then report back to the PGR Plenum, that focus on specific areas such as PhD Parents/ Carers, BAME, LGBTiQAP, Overseas, Disability . These groups would be there to support each other particularly, but also act as advisors to the Doctoral College team.

My image would be that this is a formal elected committee, but as to what positions would be your decision. I will be able to assist with some administration and a tiny pot of funding (for teas and cake)

If you are interested in being part of this please contact me m.underwood.2@warwick.ac.uk

* Plenum (meeting), a meeting of a deliberative assembly in which all members are present; or PGR Congress: a large formal meeting of representatives at which ideas are discussed and information is exchanged.

Check out our NEW PGR Matters mini sessions and book now...

These mini information sessions are for you to find out more about topics important to Researcher life. They give you the opportunity to meet other PGR's (online) and have a break! Book onto the sessions by clicking here and selecting the sessions you want to join. You will then receive the Teams meeting request to allow you to join the session.
