You can click on an event to display further information about it.

The toolbar above the calendar has buttons to view different events. Use the left and right arrow icons to view events in the past and future. The button inbetween returns you to today's view. The button to the right of this shows a mini-calendar to let you quickly jump to any date.

The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

If this calendar has tags, you can use the labelled checkboxes at the top of the page to select just the tags you wish to view, and then click "Show selected". The calendar will be redisplayed with just the events related to these tags, making it easier to find what you're looking for.

Supervisor & PGRs : Building successful practice ( Accelerator 3/7)
Microsoft Teams

Supervisor & PGR; building successful practice

Your supervisor can be the most valuable resource you have during your PhD. A mentor and advisor, help to manage your project and keep on track, and a sounding board for your new ideas and thoughts. The list could go on… But key to the success is knowing and understanding how to manage this relationship successfully. The session will cover the responsibilities of both the supervisor and the PGR; it will also look at best practice, hints and tips.

Accelerator Series: Seven sessions which we think will be invaluable to getting your PhD off to the best start; or as a great reminder of some key skills that you need for your second year.

There’s no need to attend all of them, and some are repeated at different times/ days throughout the 10 weeks.

PGR Plenum
Microsoft Teams
Personally I feel that PGRs need more voice on campus, more representation and I would like you to use the PGR Plenum as a way of meeting to discuss challenges and issues you may face and suggestions for improvements that we can collectively push forwards. It will also allow groups such as Parents, BAME, LGBTQ to ensure that their needs are being listened to as well. I will help with some funding and the initial stages of getting the Plenum up and running, then it will be totally over to you, with just admin support from us.
[7/28 2:06 PM] Underwood, Michele
PGR Plenum- a follow up:

I have been asked if I had any more info about the PGR Plenum and I thought I would post my response here since it applies to all of you. Please email me, send a chat message , if you would be interested.

Q - Do you have any more details about the PGR Plenum?

A: I have to say at the moment I don’t have clear details since I would mostly like it to be driven by yourselves and what you feel would meet the needs of PGR colleagues the most.

I suppose my position is that I would like you and colleagues to have greater representation and a greater voice at many tables.

So better representation for a start: secondly small sub groups who have particular areas that they would like further support, further interaction, or just an excuse to meet up to chat- so parents, carers, the Ethnic Minority network group, anything that would be appropriate and that we can support?

Thirdly to have an ‘official community’ – that is evidently yours, has support, has input and just does – and is recognised by the powers that be.

At my previous Uni , people were elected in ( it wasn’t a huge election process by any means ) but it helped give a formal standing to the roles. This is something that can be worked on together – you may want a more collective approach rather than one person, you may not want an election at all- I’m open to suggestions and making them work.

My thoughts are that we would get together people that are interested and then let you discuss what you think would work.

I have a small pot of money to help with admin and maybe teas/coffees when back on campus.

Maybe if you could put this in front of your colleagues and see what they say?

Wellbeing Masterclass- Managing Change

We recognise that in the current climate lots of us will have had to deal with unexpected and, at times, unwanted changes. Our expectations of this academic year will likely have been different to the current reality. However, there are still positives steps we can take to help manage this change and look after ourselves in the process, and there are still lots of opportunities available to make the most of. The Managing Change Masterclass provides a brief overview of these strategies and the steps you can take to make the most of your time whilst looking after your wellbeing.

How to take part

You will join the session through Microsoft Teams, which means you will be able to see who else is taking part. You are not expected to share any personal details, but others may, and you are expected to treat the session as a confidential space.

The sessions will not be recorded, and you are not allowed to record them yourself.

Project Management

Hear from your peers as to how they have managed their PhD. By the end of the workshop, you should be able to:

· To develop more knowledge about what project management tools can be used in your day to day tasks

· To understand importance of project management skills for your own research project

· To apply learned knowledge into practice.

· Identify your stakeholders, and to understand their needs

· Manage stakeholder expectations

· Manage risks and issues, including changes to scope

· Review and learn from strengths and weaknesses of your own research project.

To self-reflect on your own productivity and effectiveness
