In addition to the above official University social media accounts, there are many 'anonymous' style accounts that are created around various UK universities. You might be interested in reading the University of Warwick's approach to working with 'anonymous' accounts that aims to work with administrators to ensure that anonymous content is responsibly managed and maintained.
Unfortunately, at particular times of the year, social media accounts are set up by people that have no connection with the University in order to capitalise on what they think student interest will be, particularly targeting incoming students. Please be mindful of who you follow and share personal information with on social media - particularly social media accounts that ask for details such as future accommodation blocks, addresses, and courses, and groups that have limited information on who the administrators are. Also, be cautious of joining WhatsApp groups that are available for anyone to join from social media accounts. For more help staying safe online, take a look at our Stay Safe Online pages.
