“It’s a continually evolving area that changes rapidly and there is always something exciting and new happening”

A little about me

I studied Multimedia Computing at De Montfort University. After graduating I worked in various agency positions before finding my way into Higher Education at the University of Birmingham. This was the role that started my career working at universities and allowed me to develop in a range of skills including web development, copy writing and videography. If it wasn’t for my train rides from Coventry to Birmingham every day, I would never have had time to read all the Games of Thrones books.

You might be surprised to know…

I’m a big fan of animated movies and can sing all of Maui’s song “You’re welcome” from the film Moana.

A bit about my role

My role is optimising the website for the CCSG (Campus Commercial Services Group) businesses. This encompasses many things including building webpages, restructuring websites, writing content, video and image production, search engine optimisation and improving user experience (UX). I enjoy the range of varied tasks I am involved in on a day to day basis, from unpicking lines of HTML code to taking photos of food and planning user journeys through our websites.

The best thing about working in MarComms at Warwick is…

How every day I can be working on something different; a different business, a different skill, a different project. It’s a continually evolving area that changes rapidly and there is always something exciting and new happening, whether that’s within the CCSG businesses or across campus.

Having worked at Warwick for a long time what still makes you excited to come into work?

I love the work life balance I get from living locally which means it doesn’t take too long to get to and from work so I can drop off and pick up my girls from nursery. The generous annual leave is also a huge benefit after having worked agency-side, especially around Christmas.

How has your role changed since you started?

I’m currently in my fourth role at Warwick since joining in 2014. I’ve worked in the Department of Economics, ITS and then two different roles within the CCSG Agency. Each role has allowed me to learn so much in the area of digital marketing, as well as about my career. Even though all the roles were around websites and digital, so much has changed with regard to how content is presented and consumed online in such a short time, and it doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down
