Welcome to the University of Warwick Sign2Sing Choir!
The choir started a couple of weeks before the COIVID-19 lockdown was announced. Our aim was to learn to sign and sing a couple of songs to showcase at the Warwick Wellbeing Week (which was due to start on the week of 18 May). Undeterred by COVID-19, we have been meeting online for about 6 weeks and we have almost finished learning our first song! We are from all areas of the University with people from University House, the School of Law, the SU, Wellbeing, and Estates. The meetings are taking place on Zoom one lunchtime a week for about 30 minutes. We sing a lot, laugh a lot, and learn a lot!
Everyone is welcome! You don’t need to know how to sign beforehand (most of us don’t) and you don’t even need to know how to sing as all participants are muted and sing with the voice recording. It is a fun way to spend a lunchtime, connect with people and get out of your seat! You can join for as little or as much as you want (there is no attendance record). The songs and materials to practise are all available free of charge from the Sign2Sing website.
At present we are learning these songs
- Together 2017.
- Joining Hands today 2015.
