Race at Work Charter

The University of Warwick is proud to be a signatory of the Race at Work Charter.

The University of Warwick is proud to be a signatory of Business in the Community’s Race at Work Charter. We recognise that the continued existence of racial inequalities in higher education limits both minority ethnic individuals and the sector as a whole in fulfilling its full potential. The University aims to address this by inspiring a strategic approach to cultural and systemic changes that will make a real difference to minority ethnic staff and students. A Race Equality Taskforce will be leading on strands of work, from recruitment and career development to diversity of the curriculum and the progress of students into academia.

The Race at Work Charter is composed of 7 key actions to amplify leaders' and organisations' commitment to improving equality of opportunity in the workplace. By signing up to the Charter, the University has committed to:

  • Appoint an Executive Sponsor for race.
  • Capture ethnicity data and publicise progress.
  • Commit at Board level to zero tolerance of harassment and bullying.
  • Make equity, diversity, and inclusion the responsibility of all leaders and managers..
  • Take action that supports Black, Asian, Mixed Race, and other ethnically diverse employee career progression.
  • Support race inclusion allies in the workplace.
  • Include Black, Asian, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse-led enterprise owners in supply chains.

Updates on progress on the University’s Race work will be communicated at regular intervals by the Race Equality Taskforce.
