Manual right to work checks changing from 1 October 2022

If the person holds an acceptable physical document for right to work which is on the latest list published by the Home Office, the original document must be seen by the checker. Copies or photos of an original document can no longer be accepted. This mainly affects British and Irish nationals

EU nationals will be unable to enter the UK using a national ID card from 1 October 2022*

From 1 October 2022, EU nationals will be unable to enter the UK using a national ID card and will need to use a passport.

*There are some exceptions to this which include EU nationals who have settled or pre-settled status, or a frontier worker permit. In these cases, they can continue to use their national ID card to enter the UK until at least 31 December 2025.
