• The information management policies were first discussed by the Senate. The IMPF was put together partially in response to an ICO audit identifying the need to create a comprehensive suite of information management policies that applied to all engaged at the University.
• The policies were also designed to support Regulation 31 and before reaching Senate had been approved by University Information Management Committee (UIMC) and University Information Management Executive Committee (UIMEC).

• The Senate approved the information management policies (amendments to Regulation 31 were also approved at this time).

• The IMPF is published on the Security and Information Management (SIM) webpages. This is the official launch of the IMPF at the University.

• Minor amendments made to the policies to change the term Chief Information and Digital Officer (CIDO) to Chief Information and Transformation Officer (CITO).

• ‘At a glance’ summary of the policies removed.
• New landing page for the IMPF created which breaks down the framework into policies, standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidance.
• Search box added to the landing page for the IMPF and also to the policy page to allow search for terms within the framework.
• Glossary of Terms updated, and redundant terms removed.
• Top-level website section ‘IT Compliance’ renamed ‘Information Management Policy Framework’.

• IMST 01: Information Classification Standard published.
• IMST 03: Handling Information Standard published.
• IG05: Information Classification Policy withdrawn (replaced by IMST 01).
• IS03: Clear Desk Safe Working Policy withdrawn (replaced by IMST 01).
• IS04: Information Handling Policy withdrawn (replaced by IMST 03).
• IMSOP 02: Handling Information Paper and Digital withdrawn (replaced by IMST 03).
• IMSOP 07: Classification and Restriction Criteria withdrawn (to be revised in line with IMST 01 and republished).

• Search boxes added to the Standards, SOPs and Guidance pages.

• IMP 01: Information Management Framework Policy published.
• IM01: Policy of Policies, IG01: Information Governance Policy and IS01: Information Security Policy withdrawn. The provisions of these policies have in some cases been updated or retained in the new framework policy.

• Information Classification headers added to all policies, standards, SOPs and guidance in the Information Management Policy Framework.

• Use of personal devices abroad guidance published.

• Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) assistants guidance published.

• The terms: Information Management, Information Governance and Information Security removed as sub headings on the Policies page to simplify the list of policies. A note included to indicate the list of policies that are in operation but under review as at 2 May 2025.
• A note added to the SOPs page to indicate that the SOPs listed on that page are only those that form part of the Information Management Policy Framework (IMPF) and do not cover local SOPs in operation across the University.
