On campus printing from mobile devices, brief unavailability 26 & 28 May 2020

We are updating the print service used by mobile devices - smartphones and tablets on campus. Customers will notice a 10-15 minute printing outage with the potential risk of longer downtime between:

  • 10 am and 12 noon on the 26th May 2020 - (HP Mobile Print)
  • 10 am and 12 noon on the 28th May 2020 - (Kyocera Mobile Print)

VPN maintenance work, Thu 21 May 2020, 6-8am

On Thursday 21st May 2020, between 06:00 and 08:00, we will complete maintenance work on the Campus VPN service (campusvpn.warwick.ac.uk). This is to improve its resilience through the installation of a backup device. If your connection attempt fails or you are disconnected during this time, please try connecting again.

Software updates for managed computers from Fri 15 May 2020

Starting from Friday 15th May, updates for managed computers will be made available after 3pm on Fridays. Please connect to the VPN any time after this, if possible when demand is likely to be low, for example during an evening or over the weekend. You can use your computer during the automatic download, which will take about two hours, depending on your internet connection. Once downloaded, the updates will install automatically in the usual Thursday night maintenance window, or the next time you use your computer after this. Alternatively, you can begin the installation yourself via the Software Centre.

Replacement of legacy print servers, Wed 6 May 2020

We will replace legacy SafeCom print servers with newly commissioned versions between 07:00 and 12:30 on Wednesday 6th May 2020. The benefits from this work, which follows similar upgrades completed in February, include increased capacity and improved future proofing.

We expect the impact on users to be minimal: uncollected printing on the old servers will be deleted, as usually happens after 24 hours. Please send your printing again after 12:30, if necessary.

Student Records system (SITS) read only, 12-14 May 2020

From 10am on Tuesday 12th to 5pm on Thursday 14th May 2020, the Student Records system (SITS) will be read-only while we perform an upgrade. During this period:

  • Students will be unable to view their academic record, request changes to their student record, view their University financial status or make online payments for fees or accommodation.
  • Staff will be unable to access any of the online Student Records processes usually associated with their roles.
  • Applicants will be unable to view the online Student Records applicant portal (managed by central Admissions) or the Universal Admissions course application form.
