How to install Universal Capture (Personal)

We do not require you to complete a consent form before using Universal Capture (Personal). By downloading and creating recordings using the Universal Capture (Personal) software your consent is implied. By using Universal Capture (Personal) to make recordings you are not consenting to the in-room automated Lecture Capture Service.

If you wish to stop using Universal Capture (Personal), uninstall the software from your machine and request for any recordings to be deleted from the system. Please note, deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Request an Echo360 Account

If you have never used the Lecture Capture service to record a lecture or event, you are unlikely to have an account or have 'sections' (aka folders) in Echo360 to publish your content to.

Email lecturecapture@warwick.ac.uk with the following information:

  • your ITS username,
  • where you plan to publish your content. For example, module code(s) or Moodle space(s).

Please wait for confirmation that an account has been created before trying to log in. You will be asked to set a password for the system. Do not use the same password as your University ITS account.

How to install Universal Capture (Personal) on a Managed Computer or Laptop

If you currently have the old Personal Capture software installed on your PC/Laptop, you will need to ensure you have published all recordings prior to installing Universal Capture (Personal) as the installation process will remove the Personal Capture application from your device.
  1. Open the Software Center on your machine.
  2. Click on Universal Capture - Personal Echo 360.
    • If you do not see Universal Capture in your software centre, make sure it's up to date by connecting to the ITS VPN.
  3. Click on Install.
  4. Once installed click on the Echo360 Universal Capture icon on your deskptop to launch the application and log in to Echo360.
    • If you try to log in, and your email address is not recognised, follow the Request an Echo360 Account instructions to get an account set up.
    • If your email address is recognised, you will be asked for a password. Click on Forgot your password? Click here to reset below to reset your password. Do not use the same password as your University ITS account.

How to install Universal Capture (Personal) on an Unmanaged PC or MAC

To install Universal Capture (Personal) you will need either a PC/Laptop running Windows 10 or a MAC device running macOS 10.12 (Sierra) or higher. Full system requirements can be found here - Universal Capture Specifications

  1. Go to echo360.org.uk.
  2. Enter your full University email address and Echo360 password.
    • If you try to log in, and your email address is not recognised, follow the First time using Echo360? instructions to get an account set up.
    • If your password was created by AV services, Forgot your password? Click here to reset.
  3. Click on the Settings cog icon at the top right of the Echo360 Dashboard page, and then click on Downloads.
  4. From the Downloads screen, click on the application you require (Mac or Windows), and then Run/Install the software following the on-screen instructions.
  5. Once installed, launch the Echo360 Universal Capture application and login to Echo360.
    • If you try to log in, and your email address is not recognised, follow the Request an Echo360 Account instructions to get an account set up.
    • If your email address is recognised, you will be asked for a password. Click on Forgot your password? Click here to reset below to reset your password. Do not use the same password as your University ITS account.
