How can we handle confidential data within the CRM system?

In signing up for access to Dynamics Online, users agree to follow and regularly review the University’s best practice guidelines on information security, a core principle of which is:

Confidentiality: ensuring that only those individuals who have a valid and authorised reason to access the information can do so.

Whilst the core of the 'CRM ethos' is a commitment to responsibly share data and relationships, it is recognised that departments may hold certain elements of information within the CRM system that it may be inappropriate to grant wider access to (e.g. sensitive personal information, confidential meeting details, etc.). Dynamics CRM has a sophisticated security model which can manage access permissions for users right down to individual field level, to allow users and departments to customise these permissions as required while maintaining, as far as possible, the spirit of open sharing of data.
