You should ensure your machine has anti-virus software installed. ITS managed machines should have Kaspersky Anti-Virus installed. This is indicated by the presence of a black and red "K" icon in the task-bar (lower right of the screen). If for any reason this is not present you should contact the Help Desk.
If you use a non-managed University-owned machine, you can download and install Kaspersky from http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/go/software/antivirus/. You can also download anti-virus for your personal machine from this page.
You should always save any attachment that you receive via e-mail onto your computer or onto a disk and check it using your anti-virus. You should also check any floppy disk, CDs/DVDs, flash drives that you want to open files from, especially if it has been used outside of the university on a PC attached to the Internet.
