How can I upload files to my server?

Files can be uploaded via SFTP or SCP. If you do not already have an SFTP or SCP client of choice, some suggestions are below.

Uploading of files via FTP is not supported because it is an insecure protocol.

Linux

GNOME 3

The Files application has built in SFTP support.

You can optionally append a path when connecting, e.g. sftp://u1234567@foo.lnx.warwick.ac.uk/var/www/html

If after connecting you want to navigate to a directory that is now below the one you initially connected to, pressing Ctrl+L makes the location field editable and you can manually edit the path.

Windows

FileZilla is available to install on Managed Windows 7/10 Desktops via Software Centre. If you're using an unmanaged Windows machine FileZilla can be downloaded from https://filezilla-project.org/.
