Assessment Group

For each module, a student is assigned or chooses an assessment group code which determines how they will be assessed. For instance, an assessment group code of D for module LA201-30 may indicate that assessment will consist of three components - an in-class test (15%), an essay (25%) and an examination (60%).

Diet

A module diet is a prescribed set of module choices for a particular route. Students can choose modules from this diet to make up their course. Module diets are held in SITS in the tables PDT, PDM and FMC

Diet Ready

This is the module registration status given to a student who can now choose their modules but has not yet done so. This is stored as "GEN" on the student's SSN record in SITS. See the MRM FAQ for a list of module registration statuses.

Mass Confirm

It is possible to confirm all students on a route or in a department in a single action using MRM. This is known as mass confirmation.

Occurrence

Sometimes the same module can run at different times - for instance in the day for full-time students and also in the evening for part-time students. These different module running instances are known as occurrences in SITS. Where a module is set up in SITS to have multiple occurrences, students will need to choose which occurrence they are on and their choice (in the form of a code) will appear in MRM.

Option

A module which is chosen from a defined set list as defined by the module diet.

Optional Core

Where there is some choice of core modules, for instance in the case of part-time degrees when there may be a choice of years in which they are taken, the term "optional core" is used. They are coded with SES code "CO" in the SITS SMO table.

Route

A route is the variant of a course a student is on, such as "History and Politics", "Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry" or "Licensing Law". In SITS, routes are stored in the ROU table. At Warwick, there is a one-to-one correspondence between the SITS tables ROU and PWY (pathway).

SITS

SITS is the Student Records System provided by Tribal and administered by the Academic Registrar's Office.

SMS

These are records held in the student record system SITS. A student's SMS (Student Module Selection) records contain the choices the student has made through e:Vision Module Registration.

SMO

These are records held in the student record system SITS. SMO (Student Module Option) records contain a student's choices once they are confirmed by a departmental approver. It is the SMO records which are used by key processes such as the generation of HESA returns.

SPR Status

SPR records are held in the student record system SITS. SPR stands for Student Programme Route, and a student has one of these records for each course that they are on. The SPR status indicates whether the student is a current student, permanently withdrawn, temporarily withdrawn and so on.
