Who is it for:
Research Assistants, Post Docs and Research Fellows

This workshop will give you techniques to influence the thinking and behaviour of others by communicating confidently and assertively.

The workshop will be practical in content and will involve individual work and small group activities with tutor input.

By the end of the session you will have:

  • Identified through individual reflection and group discussion the key factors in influencing others.
  • Gained an understanding of a theory/model for influencing people.
  • Identified the key behaviours associated with assertive and non-assertive communication.
  • Practised your influencing skills in a supportive environment.

Participant preparation needed?
In advance of the workshop think about a conversation you would like to have where you are keen to achieve a desired outcome.

What experience do I need to benefit from this?
This session is for research staff who are not in a line management role but who do have to influence others in order to be effective
