The programme is suitable for those who have line management responsibility for others. It is aimed at those who may be new to the role, or have been in the role for some time, but who have had no formal training around the management of others. Participants will typically be on grades two to five and in roles in professional services or administration. It is not aimed at academic or research staff. Please note that applicants must have passed their probation before being considered for a place.
The programme is practical and workshop based, focusing on the key skills involved in leading an effective work team to support departmental and university objectives. Learners will be introduced to some of the key theories which practically underpin the role of leader/manager.
Participation in the programme is voluntary and will be accessed via a nomination process. Individual's nominations must be supported by their line manager or appropriate Head of Department.
