Research in Physics: Thermal imaging, ultrasound and other topics

This is an informal session introducing the work of the physics department's ultrasonic and laser physics group to a wider audience and will be specifically interesting for those from other science and engineering disciplines or with an interest in materials science and testing.

Who is it for?

All researchers and PhD students.

A brief overview of the techniques used in non-destructive testing of a range of different materials will be covered.  The research behind these techniques and their applications will also be discussed.

What will I get out of this?

By the end of the session you will have gained an overview of ultrasound testing, thermography and laser micromachining.
