What's new in TQ: Assuring and Enhancing the Student Learning Experience.

With increased external accountability around teaching and learning and a clear commitment internally in the Education Strategy to prioritising the student learning experience, there is a significant programme of work underway to rethink the way we assure and enhance the quality of our courses and the student learning experience. This lunchtime session showcase several strands of that work how they fit together as a more integrated cycle of quality assurance and enhancement.

Who is it for?

Academic and professional services staff in academic departments with responsibility for the management and support of taught courses (Foundation, UG and PGT) and the experience of students enrolled on them.Staff in professional service groups and the Students’ Union that support academic departments with the management of their courses or have an interest in how the University ensures a good quality student learning experience.

Session Objectives:

By the end of the session, you will leave with an overview of how the University’s evolving approach to quality assurance and enhancement works. We will cover this in four parts, explaining how we are moving towards:

  • A single source of truth about our courses - Module Approval, Course Approval and Published Information
  • Regular health checks to agree short-term enhancement goals – Surveys Strategy, Survey Action Planning and TEG
  • Five-yearly deep dives to see the whole picture – ITLR
  • Ensuring we have a great story to tell – TEF, PSRBs

We will make sure the rationale for why we are doing things is clear, as well as how we are doing them and what this means from a departmental perspective. There will also be plenty of time for questions and discussion on areas where you have a particular interest, and the TQ team will be on hand afterwards to follow up on department-specific conversations.
