The session will provide an overview of services currently offered by the Centre for Applied Linguistics to international students of non-English speaking backgrounds and their departments.
|Who is it for?||
Admissions tutors, personal tutors and other interested faculty, and administrators dealing with admissions.
Because University personnel quite frequently change roles, it is important that departments have an up-to-date picture of CAL’s courses and the ways in which we can support departments and their international students. Experience tells us that there can be a lack awareness of the nature of the services CAL offers. The purpose of this session is to help ensure that the relevant people are fully informed.
This will include the year-round Pre-sessional English Programme, in-sessional English language provision (both generic English for Academic Purposes as well as English for Specific Academic Purposes courses tailored to and delivered at the request of particular departments) and Short Courses. There will be an opportunity to ask questions about CAL’s work and services and to discuss the way in which CAL would like to see its provision change in the future.
Dr Neil Murray (Director of Non-Award Bearing Programmes). Also attending will be: Nigel Prentice (Pre-sessional Programmes Manager), Jonathan French (Business Development Manager) and Dr Gerard Sharpling (In-sessional Programme Manager),
