Window on Warwick - Scamming: Social Engineering/Phishing

This session covers the dangers of various forms of Phishing aimed at the University and how to appropriately identify and handle these threats.

Who is it for?

All Staff (University members and academic)

Session Objectives:

The session aims to promote awareness of the successful phishing attacks that have been levied against the University and its members. The ultimate aim is to educate individuals on how they can spot and handle phishing attacks when they are targeted.

The session will cover:

  • How has the University been affected by phishing?
  • What are the different types of phishing? (Spear-phishing, whaling, vishing etc.)
  • How does phishing work?
  • How do you identify a phishing attack?
  • What should you do if you are the target of a phishing attempt?
