|Who is it for?||
Any member of staff who would like to be inspired and to learn from successful women in senior roles from a range of different sectors. The ‘Inspiring Women’ series will feature speakers from both the Academy, the Administration and externals- including senior Warwick alumni.
Dr Teresa Grant is Associate Professor in Renaissance Theatre in English and Comparative Literary Studies at Warwick. She will talk about trying to have it all, work-related stress and what makes women suffer from impostor-syndrome. She is very lucky to have a permanent job at a Russell Group University, a BA and a PhD from Cambridge, two (mostly lovely) small children and far too many things to do, none of which she does as well as she would like. She is currently (Acting) Chair of the University's Gender Task Force and will address ways in which this committee, and the sector, might support changes which would level the playing field for women just a little. She will reflect on the 'mistakes' she has made with her own career, professional and personal authenticity and how to be mostly happy even when the criteria against which one is judged demand you be a different person from the one you want to be. She will be talking from her own experience in academia but these issues of ethical choice pertain to career management for women in all fields, and to women graduating and just about to go out into the world of work.
