Academic Writing Away days - "Bootcamp"

Course overview Date, venue & booking

Take time to start or finish your academic writing

These writing bootcamps run for two days and offer research staff the opportunity to focus exclusively on their writing. For that reason, we ask that those who attend are prepared to commit to the full two days when booking a place.

Who is it for?
This two-day event is open to Research Active Staff from any Faculty.

Session Objectives
The away days will include:

  • Dedicated writing time for the researcher
  • Opportunities for inventing/planning research
  • Consultations with a writing tutor
  • Feedback opportunities

The two days are structured to allow participants to discuss their research and writing strategies with Research Active Staff and the writing tutor, and most importantly to have dedicated writing times.

Writing bootcamps may be of benefit to those beginning a new project and to research staff who wish to focus on editing existing work or producing a piece of work from existing research.

Is there anything else I need to know?
We ask that participants come with a clear writing goal and a specific material outcome that they wish to achieve (e.g. planning the skeleton structure of a new book, drafting a journal article etc). Participants may also want to do some preparation before the writing away days and can submit a draft of their article or text in advance to Rochelle Sibley (2 weeks before the Writing Away Days) for individual feedback during the bootcamp.
