Application Criteria

Roberts’ funding for researcher development operates within specific guidelines set by RCUK. Roberts’ funding is currently scheduled to end in July 2011. For these reasons, we ask applicants for funding to work within these criteria:

  • The development fund is only open to Warwick staff on research terms and conditions. Academic and non-academic staff should apply to the general Staff Development Fund. If you are a research student you should contact Student Careers and Skills.
  • All applications should explain the benefit of the activity to the individual/department against the requirements set out in the Roberts’ Joint Skills Statement.
  • All successful applicants will be asked to share learning and experience gained as a result of taking part in the funded activity with a wider audience, by writing a short piece for the monthly research staff e-newsletter or website or by speaking at or running a question and answer session in a Windows on Research meeting in the Research Exchange.
  • All applications must be for activities undertaken before 31 July 2011, and any Windows on Research session or item for the e-newsletter/ website must also be completed by that date.
  • The fund cannot support retrospective courses/ events
  • Please make sure you have exhausted other sources of funding first (such as departmental funding or KTP funding for personal development). However, Roberts’ funding can top up funding from other sources.  You will need to demonstrate that you have asked your Department for funding. You should also use up any additional funding open to you (e.g. KTP) and exhaust other sources of funding before applying to this fund.
  • Your Head of Department must sign/approve your application (this can be done by emailing a short statement of support)
  • Please acknowledge any Roberts’ funding contribution to anything you organise that involves an audience eg. on any publicity and/or at the event
  • We are happy to receive more than one application for an individual or department
  • You can apply as an individual or part of a group/collaboration – Application Forms
  • We aim to respond within one week
