AFHEA Accreditation

Support is being provided as part of the pilot for a limited number of people to apply for Associate Fellow status of the HEA by producing an account of professional practice (APP), supported by two references.

This may be of particular interest to more experienced sessional teachers: PhD students or early career researchers with teaching/demonstrating responsibilities and experience as an alternative to completing the PGA course noted at the bottom of the page.

This support will include:

  • an introductory session to discuss the UKPSF and work required for submission. This is an opportunity to confirm that this is the appropriate route to AFHEA status for you individually and begin to discuss and consider what is required to complete an APP submission by the end of term 2. The meeting will be held on Tuesday 8th December 2015, 10.00-11.30am in the Collaborative Space of the Teaching Grid.
  • a skills session to enable participants to map their experience to the UKPSF, highlighting any areas that need attention in order to make a submission for accreditation. This session will be held on Thursday 14th Janaury 2016, 2.00-4.00pm in the Experimental Teaching Space of the Teaching Grid.
  • a writing session to provide practical support on creating the submission documentation. This session will be held on Tuesday 26th January 2016, 2.00-4.00pm in the Experimental Teaching Space of the Teaching Grid.

Alternatively you may wish to consider taking the existing Post Graduate Award (PGA) in Teaching to gain Associate Fellowship status of the HEA. It should be noted that this route is a 12-month programme, with restrictions and teaching-load requirements. PGA
