Experience And Development

The Graduate School provides a variety of services to enhance the overall experience of postgraduate students.

Processes

A series of workshops are run to assist students with navigating through the processes of applying for funding, thesis submission and student status. Information on all of these topics is also available via the Graduate School webpages.

Personal and Professional Development

For postgraduate research students, the annual Careers in Academia events provide a unique and valuable insight into the realities of an academic career; in 2013, 100% of students who attended said they would recommend this event to others.

In addition, the Warwick Portfolio has been developed to support PGRs in their career development. The Portfolio provides both a portal onto the wide range of personal and professional development opportunities available throughout the University, and a mechanism for recording and reflecting on such activities. The Warwick Portfolio is a personal and private tool, however, supervisors may use it as a starting point for discussion with students about their progress as a researcher, extracurricular activities and future plans, or as a tool which can help in evaluating students' skills and development prior to more formal progress reviews. More information, including a list of FAQs for supervisors, can be found on the Graduate School webpages.

The Graduate School is also responsible for Postgraduate Student Experience Surveys and Annual Report Forms.
