Interested in presenting or producing a poster for this year's
Teaching and Learning Showcase?
We welcome proposals from both staff and students. Send us your proposal by Friday 3 May.
The annual Teaching and Learning Showcase provides a forum for the exchange of good practice across the University, as well as offering colleagues the opportunity to reflect more broadly on teaching and learning strategies, explore new approaches and ideas, and share experiences.
The theme for this year's Teaching and Learning Showcase is Engaging Students and proposals should address one of these three topics:
Creativity – As teachers we are constantly reimagining and redeveloping our approaches and looking to learn and build on the ideas of others. Presentations on this topic might share creative practices by introducing novel teaching ideas, innovative assessment methods, new ways of actively involving students …or something completely different.
Beyond the Classroom – Increasingly teaching and learning are moving beyond the four walls of the classroom: students are learning in new and exciting ways in a variety of spaces, both physical and virtual, and developing skills that extend beyond the specific discipline of their degree. This topic explores how learning moves beyond the traditional, for example by using newly available technology (such as Moodle) to collaborate, offering opportunities to develop transferable skills for the workplace, or literally taking the learning outside.
Using Resources in new ways – Resources, whether new or old, are an essential teaching tool. This topic invites colleagues to share innovative approaches to making effective use of resources to engage and inspire leaners. Within this topic there is scope to explore how you make use of traditional hard copy and physical resources – such as archives or artefacts – or support students to engage with virtual resources.
