Celebrating British Black and Asian Shakespeareans
Dr.Jami Rogers provides a tour of the British Black and Asian Shakespeare Performance database. This new digital humanities resource documents nearly 1200 productions of Shakespeare in the UK since 1930. The increasing participation of minority ethnic performers in classical theatre in Britain is celebrated, as are some of the ground-breaking performances uncovered by this research.
Exploring the Minority Arts Archives
The Minority Arts Archive documents BME artists, actors and performers in the arts in Britain from 1974 to 1995. This collection includes photographs, programmes, journals, and reports from arts organizations, is held by the MRC on behalf of the Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations (CRER). The collection will be available for attendees to explore. In addition, our materials on the great actor and singer, Paul Robeson, will also be available.
