Our news feed contains information about new resources, newly catalogued or acquired archive collections, current and upcoming projects and events, and service developments.

Information about past work at the Modern Records Centre is included in our annual reports and information bulletins (available online from 1996/7 to 2016/7). Recordings of several past events are also available - the student-led Open Education Series, 2014-2016, and the schools project Archives Alive, 2016.

Accreditation news

We are delighted to announce that we have had our Accredited status (originally awarded in 2019) confirmed which is a testament to all the hard work undertaken by the team over the last three years.

FAB Fest

The MRC will be celebrating the opening of the new Faculty of Arts Building at FAB Fest on Friday 20 May. Join us at FAB for two events, showcasing the MRC's collections and highlighting our collaborative work with academic departments.

Campus Rewind

Come celebrate the new with the old and step back in time with the Modern Record Centre. Flick through back issues of the Boar, marvel at the original University charter and discover the green fields of campus past. Drop in and browse a whole array of archival material, take part in our caption competition and pick up a free MRC postcard.

Family History Workshop

Do you want to research your family tree but don’t know where to start? Have you already made a start and found yourself stuck at a particular point and need some help? Or perhaps you have exhausted online resources and want to know what information you might find at your local archives. Come along to the Family History Workshop for research advice, informative leaflets and an opportunity to search some of the most popular online websites for free!
