User guides: Academic Technologies Getting Started Guide

Ideas for use in your teaching:

  • Test students’ knowledge or ideas about a topic at the beginning of a session to inform which areas to focus teaching on
  • Students receive immediate feedback. Get students to reflect on and discuss their answers.
  • Re-run the same questions at the end of the session to see whether their answers have changed

Case studies from teaching at Warwick: Warwick Innovative Teaching database article: Introduction to designing engaging lectures with ResponseWare.

ResponseWare is an alternative that uses the same technology from Turning Technologies but students answer using an app on their own devices instead of the PRS handsets. Both methods can be used in the Teaching Grid. Find out more from the Academic Technology Team’s Extended Classroom pages, including a comprehensive list of question types and uses.
