Programme Outline
The programme begins with a series of induction sessions, which provide information and points of contact for key services and teams accessed by Heads of Department.
Amongst those areas covered are:
- Academic Development Centre
- Academic Processes
- Finance
- Governance
- Leadership and Management Development
- People Team
- Strategic Planning (ARC)
- Strategy Group
- Sustainability
In addition, during these sessions, colleagues will have the opportunity to network with other Heads of Department new to the role, as well as meeting the Provost and current HoDs.
There are four development days included within the programme to explore and develop skills in greater depth. These cover: academic leadership practice, making difficult conversations more valuable, developing an effective approach to influencing, and change leadership.
New Heads of Department will be mentored by a current or previous HoD whilst on the programme, and will receive executive coaching upon completion of the programme.
