Music Centre Facilities

Westwood Practice Rooms:

For the academic year 2017/18 the Music Centre has moved to the Westwood campus while refurbishment works start in the Arts Centre.

The Westwood practice rooms are perfect for individual and group practice of instruments such as woodwind, brass and piano. In Practice Room 8 there is an electric drum kit, owned by the Drumming Society, which can be used by members of the society for practice. To gain access to the room (which is locked with an Onity lock) you need to first join the society via the Student Union and then come to the Music Centre office with your university card, and we will activate it for you.

The practice rooms are open whenever the Westwood Music Centre is, as a general rule in term time this is:

Mon-Fri: 8.30am - 11pm

Sat: 9am - 10.00pm

Sun: 9am - 10.00pm

We also have an extensive Choral and Orchestral music library for society use, percussion and instrument stores and a variety of keyboard instruments, including grand pianos and a harpsichord.

The Music Centre is usually located within Warwick Arts Centre, the largest venue of its kind in the UK outside the Barbican Centre in London (apart from the academic year 2017/18 where we will be in the Westwood campus). Our larger ensembles regularly perform in its 1500-seat Butterworth Hall, whilst our smaller groups make frequent use of the two Theatres, the Butterworth Hall, Helen Martin Studio and a dedicated Ensemble Room.
