Course Overview
Mentoring Skills is part of a blended learning programme.
This course covers key skills that are required in mentoring and useful models for mentoring conversations.

N.B. Once you have completed the online course and attended the workshop session you can use/re-access this e-learning course as a reminder/to refresh your knowledge and awareness of mentoring.
Who is it for?
This course is designed for all University staff.
E-learning course objectives
By the end of this e-learning course you will be able to:
- State what mentoring is
- Identify situations for when mentoring is appropriate
- Identify key skills required for effective mentoring conversations
- Apply the GROW framework to structure mentoring conversations
- Understand the differences between mentoring, coaching and counselling
Is there anything else I need to know?
- The e-learning course will take approximately 30 minutes to complete
- The term "learner" is used throughout the course to refer to a person who is receiving mentoring

A mentoring skills workshop is available for you to attend once you have completed the online Moodle course.
