Residential Life Team

Are you an enthusiastic and responsible individual who would like to be part of the Residential Life Team who live alongside students within Halls of Residence and are a key part of the University's welfare and support network?

What is the role of the Residential Life Team?

The Residential Life Team (RLT) is responsible for maintaining both discipline and pastoral support within the Halls of Residence. As a volunteer member of the RLT, you will assist in ensuring the provision and delivery of an effective system of student support for students who live on the University campus. You will contribute to providing a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for living and learning; in particular, shaping a high quality residential experience for student learners at the University.

Who is eligible to apply?

Being a Volunteer for Warwick’s Residential Life Team will be in addition to your current commitment to the University of Warwick. You need to be eligible for the whole academic year (starting in September) and you must be either a:

  • Full time or part time (substantive commitment) postgraduate student
  • Student on the MBChB
  • Member of University staff with a minimum paid commitment of 15 hours per week

If you have a paid role working in one of the local hospitals and are studying part-time at the University then please contact the Residential Life Team Office for more advice and guidance. It may be that your commitment to the University may not be sufficient to qualify to join the Residential Life Team. We may need to call on you in emergencies to support students and this requirement may conflict with your day-to-day working role at the hospital.

You are not eligible to apply for a role within the RLT, if you are:

  • On a Tier 4 (General) Student Visa (due to potential time commitments)
  • Currently working as a temporary worker with Unitemps
  • An undergraduate student (not including MBChB)
  • A Sabbatical Officer
  • In paid employment with Warwick Students' Union and are not a post graduate student
Potential accommodation restrictions

We welcome applications from staff and students with disabilities, however, please be advised in some cases that due to the nature and age of the residential accommodation the University may not be able to make the adaptations necessary in order to make the buildings fully accessible. If you wish to apply and have a disability then we recommend that you discuss what options may be available with the Senior Wardens. Please be advised that we may not be able to accommodate you within the Residential Life Team.

Children and pets

Due to the nature of the accommodation there are limited residences where the University is able to accommodate applicants with families or pets. If you have children who you wish to bring to live with you in residences then please see our information for applicants with children. The majority of residential halls are not good environments for animals and the University is also mindful of their welfare. At present only residential team accommodation which has a separate front entrance is designated for pets (cats and dogs only). If you have any queries then please get in touch with the Residential Life Office (residentialteam at warwick dot ac dot uk).
