Research Poster Competition

19th June 2019

Whatever your discipline, poster presentations are a powerful and widely used means of disseminating research in both academic and non-academic contexts.

Distilling your research into an A1 poster that is engaging and visually appealing can be a challenge, but is an excellent way to stretch your creativity and demonstrate the impact of your work.

The Poster Competition is your chance to hone your poster design, presentation and public engagement skills.
The competition brings together Postgraduate Researchers from across all disciplines at Warwick to compete for both Faculty and overall winners prizes.

In addition to designing your poster you will need to present it to pairs of judges drawn from both business and academia, and colleagues at Warwick from all academic disciplines and central departments. The challenge is to ensure that you can explain your research to a broad audience.

Prizes of £150 are awarded to each faculty winner with the overall winner receiving £200. There are three runners up prizes of £50, and we also have a popular vote, with a prize of £50.

This is a hotly contested competition and the rules are strict. Please read the rules for entering below.

The event is on the 19th June. Contestants are required to attend a briefing session at 12.00, with the competition starting at 12.30. Judging will continue through to 2.30pm. The Prize ceremony will be at 3.30pm. You must be there for the whole competition.

By booking your place on this event you are confirming that you will submit your poster on time, and attend the full event.

There are only 56 places available for the competition. Please remember if you book and do not submit a poster you have taken the opportunity away from someone else. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis.

All postgraduate research students are eligible to submit a poster. All entrants must be currently registered for a research degree (PhD, Masters by Research, MPhil, EngD, EdD, professional doctorate) at the University of Warwick on the date of the Showcase.

I found it quite a challenge to make the poster, but a helpful exercise because it required me to pick out some key themes and helped me to get a bit of clarity and objectivity on my research, at a stage when I was starting to get bogged down in insignificant detail!” (PhD student, English)
