Defending your argument (W22R)

Defending an argument represents an author’s ability to articulate a position, showcase its value and persuade readers of its validity when openly challenged. Essentially, this process starts when criticism is raised, calling for a response. This session explores effective ways to defend an argument, and strategies to absorb successfully open criticism when being examined.

By the end of this workshop you will have:

  • an understanding of defending an argument as a cognitive, as well as emotional process
  • learned methods to argue convincingly and confidently
  • learned preparation methods for coping with open criticism
  • learned how to separate fact from its emotional impact.
