This workshop is an exploration of the macrostructure of writing, outlining elements which are indispensable to any type of academic writing. Many essays fail to impress through faults of structure; thus this session demonstrates the intellectual ‘selling’ of writing through introductions and the importance of conclusions in drawing the argument together.
By the end of the workshop, you will have:
- gained an understanding of the concept of academic writing structure
- assessed its main elements, their role and function
- examined the content of structural elements
- assessing the value of opening and concluding paragraphs.
