This workshop examines a process of transition from the ‘personal’ to the ‘objective’ which governs the academic writing style. It identifies what constitutes ‘academic’ writing in terms of vocabulary, criticality and evidence.
By the end of the workshop, you will have:
- an understanding of the essential aspects and attributes of the academic writing style
- learned how to transform a text into a more appropriate style and vocabulary
- explored the concept of redundant language and how to edit it out.

All postgraduate research students. To register for this workshop, you must be enrolled on (or recently graduated from) one of the following degrees: PhD, MPhil, Masters by Research, EngD, EdD, professional doctorate.
