The Undergraduate Research Support Scheme (URSS) is provides a bursary and skills development training to support undergraduate students who wish to carry out a summer research project.
Every year we employ mentors to support our undergraduate researchers during their summer project. The mentors are chosen from a pool of experienced postgraduate researchers who have a passion for research and are usually researching at PhD level.
The URSS participants are required to undertake a project and complete an online Moodle-based, reflective portfolio to reflect on their experience of undertaking a research project. The mentors monitor engagement and provide on-going, formative feedback to the participants via their portfolio posts. They take a significant role in maintaining the URSS social media presence; encouraging the participants to form a community of undergraduate researchers at Warwick.
For 2017-2018 we are also hoping to include previous URSS participants (who may not yet reached postgraduate research level) as mentors to share their recent experiences.
