Surveyors

Each year we rely on a hard-working, dedicated team of surveyors to assist with the Room Utilisation Survey. Without their support it would simply be impossible to complete such a large-scale survey. If you are interested in working as a surveyor please read the information below and consider applying!

Job spec

Our surveyors are assigned a circuit of rooms on the University campus for which they are responsible for surveying and data collection throughout the week. The type of rooms you visit may vary - they may be teaching rooms, meeting rooms, common rooms or postgraduate space! You will be required to briefly enter the rooms on your circuit and record the number of people in each room. Towards the end of the Survey week we will send you a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet which you can input your data into.

Requirements

The quality of the data we collect is of upmost importance to us. We require surveyors who have:

  • A good knowledge of University Campus
  • Experience of using Microsoft Excel
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Be punctual and reliable
  • The ability to problem solve and good customer service skills are desirable
  • Experience of being responsible for the collection and collation of data is also desirable

Pay

The rate of pay is £7.71 per hour for the shifts worked during the Survey week (4 hours per day). We will also pay you for an extra 15 minutes for every half day worked, for inputting the data into an Excel spreadsheet.

Availability

The survey runs from Monday 26th - Friday 30th October 2015. We offer a choice of two shift patterns: a morning shift (9am - 1pm) or an afternoon shift (1pm - 5pm). Unfortunately we are unable to allow people to work a full day (9am - 5pm). You should be available to work each day of the Survey week. Those who cannot commit themselves to the same slot every day will be considered but preference will be given to those who can.

If successful, you must attend a briefing meeting either on Tuesday 20th October at 10am or Wednesday 21st October at 2pm.

Successful applicants must be registered with Unitemps and have proved their eligibility to work
