Introduction to Global Research Priorities
How could technology improve healthcare? Could genetic modification solve food shortages around the world? What would be the impact on the environment if we all drove electronic cars?
Our Global Research Priorities programmes addresses some of the most challenging problems facing the world today, providing a platform for multidisciplinary research in 10 key areas of international significance, from food to sustainable cities, energy to innovative manufacturing.
Our programme supports cross-departmental collaboration, enabling our researchers to work together across departmental and disciplinary boundaries on issues of global importance.
Multi-disciplinary research is at the heart of the concept. Research that crosses department boundaries has long been a feature of academic life at Warwick: examples include the Systems Biology Centre, the Centre for Complexity Science, the recently formed Centre for Industrial Biotechnology and Bio-refining, and one of the University’s oldest cross-departmental centres, the Centre for Philosophy, Literature and the Arts. The University has eight interdisciplinary Doctoral Training Centres and supports a range of interdisciplinary doctoral and master’s programmes.
