In the current economic climate, institutions are facing increased pressure to improve the efficiency and sustainability of their estates. Warwick remains ambitious in its vision strategy, however competition for existing space is increasing and the availability of capital funding has substantially reduced over the last few years. In terms of space usage, the Space Management team is concerned with accurately recording space allocations, monitoring space usage and promoting the efficient use of space.

QuEMIS Space Database

All building space is recorded on the University's room database QuEMIS, which holds detailed records of the University's current space. Space Management are responsible for ensuring that the allocation and usage aspects of this data are correct and up to date.

Room Utilisation Survey

In collaboration with other administrative departments, the team produces a range of space analytics throughout the year to monitor how effectively space is being used. The main processes whereby space data is generated are the Room Utilisation Survey and the Space Analysis Reports (produced during the Annual Accommodation Round). Space analytics allow us to analyse and assess space usage at room, department, faculty and campus level.

 Reconfiguring Space

Space Management also works closely with academic colleagues to help promote efficient space use across faculties and departments. Identifying areas of the University where usage is below the required standard Space Management seeks to find ways of creatively improving that usage.
