Each year we rely on a hard-working, dedicated team of surveyors to assist with the Room Utilisation Survey. Without their support it would simply be impossible to complete such a large-scale survey. If you are interested in working as a surveyor please read the information below and consider applying!
Our surveyors are assigned a circuit of rooms on the University campus for which they are responsible for surveying and data collection throughout the week. The type of rooms you visit may vary - they may be teaching rooms, meeting rooms, common rooms or postgraduate space! You will be required to briefly enter the rooms on your circuit and record the number of people in each room. Towards the end of the Survey week we will send you a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet which you can input your data into.
The quality of the data we collect is of upmost importance to us. We require surveyors who are:
It is also essential that you have experience of Microsoft Excel and email. A knowledge of the University campus would also be beneficial.
The rate of pay is £7.71 per hour for the shifts worked during the Survey week (4 hours per day). We will also pay you for an extra 15 minutes for every half day worked, for inputting the data into an Excel spreadsheet.
The survey runs from Monday 13th - Friday 17th October 2014. We offer a choice of two shift patterns: a morning shift (9am - 1pm) or an afternoon shift (1pm - 5pm). Unfortunately we are unable to allow people to work a full day (9am - 5pm). You should be available to work each day of the Survey week. However, those who cannot commit themselves to the same slot every day will be considered but preference will be given to those who can.
If successful, you will be required to attend a briefing meeting either on Thursday 9th October at 10am or Friday 10th October at 2pm.
If you want to apply to be a surveyor please complete the short online application form. We expect that successful candidates will be notified by 30th September 2014.
The deadline for applications is midnight at the end of Thursday 25th September 2014.
