Inspired by therecent inclusion of badminton in the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, UWBC will be holding its first Para-Badminton Day open to everyone at Warwick and the general public on Sunday 5 February from 9.30 - 6pm in the Sports Centre, Main Hall.
We welcome people of all abilities to take part - whether you have a physical impairment or are fully able bodied, everyone will be on a level playing field, as they grace the courts on wheelchairs, for a jam-packed day of action and adventure!
The day will be composed of:
Morning (10:30 - 13:00) - wheelchair badminton taster session
Afternoon (13:00 - 14:30) - pro-para-badminton demonstration featuring talent from the national team and the chance to challenge the pros
Evening (14:30 - 17:00) - para-badminton tournament, open to everyone
Sharing the mantra of the Badminton World Federation, we believe badminton is a sport for all, accessible for boys and girls, men and women and for people with a physical impairment.
Whatever your ability, whether you're an expert at badminton or not, come and drop by for what it is cracked up to be a fun day for all!
The event will be raising money for the charity WheelPower, which is dedicated to providing opportunities for disabled people to find a sport they enjoy and introduce people to wheelchair sport.
Donations upon entry will be broadly welcomed, as for the day, attendees will have access to wheelchairs, members of the National Para-Badminton Team, refreshments as well as entry in the tournament. Feel free to drop by at any of the ongoing sessions during the day - all are welcome!
