Great Results for our Performance Sport Athletes and Teams
Last weekend William Gower, 2nd year General Engineering student and Trampolining Scholarship Athlete 17/18, competed in the Trampoline and DMT League Finals 2017 in London.
In the Superleague Will qualified to the final 8 in 6th place after the first two routines. However after he crashed the second move in of his third and final routine Gower and consequently dropped two places to finish 8th overall.
In League 1 Will’s luck reversed as he qualified to the final 8 in 8th place and went on to finish 5th overall after his third and final routine.
Will had this to say, “It’s a shame about the Superleague final but I have to be happy about completing 5 out of 6 routines this weekend as a year ago my routine completion was really low. Now it’s about in line with where my competitors are which is good.”
The University of Warwick Archery Club, one of our Performance Sport Teams including Scholarship Athlete Tom Hall, have also seen some great success. In the recently released Archery GB National Rankings several of their archers found themselves in the top 200.
Sherman Ip, Captain of the Archery club, commented, “Most notable is that Sarah and Sam only started archery in October 2016 and that we field at least 2 Top 50 archers.”
A huge congratulations to both Will and the Archery Club on their successes.
