Managing Change

Who is it for?

This session is for students at all levels, both new and returning. It is for those who would like some additional support during this period of change, by learning strategies and advice on how to best look after themselves during this time.

You are not expected or required to share any information you are not comfortable with sharing in the group. You can share as much or as little as you like.

Content

The first half of the session will focus on the impact of this transitionary period on our overall wellbeing, emotional and mental health:

  • Expectations vs reality - How to manage this?
  • Emotional Resilience - What is it, how can you look after it?
  • Managing stress and anxiety

The second half focuses on the practical elements of this year and how you can best prepare and look after yourself:

  • Academic transitions - from School or College, or returning to University with new changes in place
  • Managing finances
  • Managing relationships - both at home and at University, within current guidelines
What will I get out of this?
  • Learning how to cope with your own expectations for this year, and how this may have changed or be different to reality

  • Gain tools and strategies to develop your emotional resilience and to help cope with stress and anxiety
  • Identify some potential challenges or changes with your transition to os returning back to university, and learn strategies on how to manage these on a practical level
  • Find out about the support available to you at University
