Support for those in abusive or violent relationships

Violence and abuse can be experienced within intimate or close relationships. It is most commonly perpetrated by partners or ex-partners but can also be perpetrated by family members or carers.

This type of abuse is usually characterised by the misuse of power or the exercise of control and can include a range of behaviours such as:

  • The use of coercive control (via intimidating, degrading, isolating or controlling through threat of violence)
  • Physical abuse
  • Sexual violence or abuse
  • Psychological and/or emotional abuse
  • Financial abuse
  • Harassment or Stalking
  • Online and/or digital abuse

None of these behaviours are acceptable and if you have or are experiencing any of these forms of abuse there is help and support available that will not judge you or blame you for the abuse you have or are experiencing.
