The Undergraduate Research Support Scheme enables undergraduate students to carry out an interdisciplinary summer research project. The scheme is open to any UG student at Warwick on a full-time or part-time course, in any year including first and final year students. Faculty of Arts Mural - Get Involved

Construction for a new Faculty of Arts Building is underway on the University of Warwick campus. It will be a building for everyone, with a range of mixed teaching and study spaces, lecture facilities, a café and exhibition space for our entire community to enjoy.

We have commissioned Matthew Raw to create a large-scale mural, and he would like your inspiration. He has created an easy-to-do activity pack for people of all ages to complete and share with him. It's made up of some more information about the project and then some simple colour exercises – where there can be no wrong answers!

Coventry Creates

The digital exhibition, Coventry Creates, shows the work of 18 local artists who worked in collaboration with researchers from Coventry University and the University of Warwick, as part of a commissioned project funded by the two institutions. Digital Arts Lab Teaching and Learning Project Funds - Application Launch

We are pleased to announce that the Digital Arts Lab is currently inviting applications for a £500 teaching and learning development grants for staff in the Faculty of Arts. Funding will be awarded to a project which scopes or supports digital teaching and learning activities or enhance the student experience. We are interested in both disciplinary and interdisciplinary projects and in departmental, faculty or cross-faculty projects.

The grants will be made on consideration of the following criteria:

The impact of the project on enhancing teaching and learning, the digital humanities, and the student experience;
The innovation and creativity of the proposed project;
The sustainability of the project and its departmental/faculty implementation plan.

This project funding is open to both academic and professional staff from the Faculty of Arts. We we will accept bids from individuals and from teams, including cross departmental teams. The funds must be spent before the 31 July 2020. Recipients of the grants will be asked to write-up a project report for the Digital Arts Lab website and present their work at the Digital Arts Lab Forum.

World Autism Awareness Day - Assistive Technologies, Active Participation

The 2nd April was World Autism Awareness Day. This is an internationally observed day that takes place every year. The theme this year is 'Assistive Technologies, Active Participation'. Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how people perceive the world and interact with others. There are around 700,000 autistic people in the UK - that's more than 1 in 100. You can learn more about autism in this introductory video from the National Autistic Society

The 2019 World Autism Awareness Day observance at UN Headquarters in New York focused on 'leveraging the use of assistive technologies for persons with autism as a tool in removing the barriers to their full social, economic and political participation in society, and in promoting equality, equity and inclusion'. Topics discussed included:

Independent living: Smart home technology and more
Education and employment: Communication and executive functioning
Telemedicine: Opening the doors to healthcare
The right to be heard: Political participation and advocacy
